Andy Dick, star of the movie "Bongwater"
pleads not guilty to a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge. Dick was cited after a security guard a the Coachella Music and Arts Festival claims he witnessed the actor about to smoke a marijuana cigarette. A June 29 pretrial hearing was ordered for Dick, who was cited for allegedly possessing less than an ounce of marijuana.

Frau pflanzte unwissend 134 Cannabis-Pflanzen in ihrem Garten an
In einem Garten in Langenhagen bei Hannover hat die Polizei 134 Cannabis-Pflanzen entdeckt, welche eine Höhe von 90 Zentimetern hatten. Zuvor wurden die Beamten mit einem anonymen Anruf darüber informiert.
Die 40-jährige Pächterin des Gartens gab zwar zu, die Pflanzen angebaut zu haben, jedoch ohne zu wissen, dass es sich um Cannabispflanzen handeln könnte.

Kiffen bleibt strafbar
Der Nationalrat hat am Montag mit 102 zu 92 Stimmen bekräftigt, dass das Rauchen eines Joints von der Polizei und den Gerichten verfolgt werden muss. Die Revision des Betäubungsmittelgesetzes ist damit vom Tisch.

Alarm at rising cannabis 'addiction'
Increasing numbers of people are becoming dependent on cannabis, The Observer has learnt.
Department of Health figures show that drug centres are reporting growing numbers coming to them with problems related to the drug. Nine per cent of all those attending clinics cited cannabis as the main reason they were attending, rather than any of the other drugs they were using, twice as many as a decade ago.

The lucrative business of pot
Ask any of the 17,500 marijuana grow ops in British Columbia about revenue, and according to the results of a new study, the answer would be booming. In fact, the study, commissioned by the Fraser Institute, estimates that the underground B.C. industry is worth $7-billion -- the largest in the country.
The report claims that the sector is doing so well -- almost as strong as the province's forestry industry, which posted $9-billion in revenue for 2004 -- that B.C. should legalize the drug and tax it.

Drug ring's South Pacific hideaway raided in record $770m haul
Australian, New Zealand and Fijian police have smashed a massive drug operation in Suva that allegedly operated the largest methamphetamine laboratory ever uncovered in the southern hemisphere.
The lab had been producing the party drug methamphetamine, known as "ice", for the Australian, New Zealand, US and European markets.
Police raided a factory in Suva yesterday and seized illegal drugs and chemicals with an estimated street value of 1 billion Fiji dollars ($770 million).
