Drug War Gets Dirtier as What You Flush Becomes Evidence
Think twice before you flush the toilet. You might be sending evidence straight to the authorities — at least if you're getting high in Italy or Switzerland. Scientists there recently did a study in which they tracked narcotic use through municipal sewage systems. Twice a day, at weekly intervals, wastewater was spirited out of treatment plants in Milan and Lugano, dried with a blast of nitrogen, then injected into a mass spectrometer to detect illicit substances.

Dutch smoking ban to cover coffee shops
A Dutch smoking ban will come into force in July next year for all restaurants and cafes -- including coffee shops where cannabis is the top attraction, the government decided on Friday.
"Coffee shops will be treated in the same manner as other catering businesses. They will be smoke-free," Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende told NOS television.

Rome's atmosphere shows signs of cocaine
Scientists from Italy's National Research Council (CNR) have discovered an even greater threat to Rome's population than getting run down by a Lambretta: particles of cocaine and marijuana in the atmosphere, centred around the city's Sapienza university.

Smokeless cannabis delivery device created
U.S. scientists have created a cannabis-vaporizing device to produce the same biological effect as does smoking marijuana but without harmful toxins.
The University of California-San Francisco research focused on delivery of the active ingredient delta-9-tertrahydrocannibinol, or THC.

Bud Bundy Busted For Pot!
David Faustino, The 33-year-old actor best known for playing "Bud Bundy" on TV's "Married With Children," was arrested Saturday on pot possession and disorderly intoxication charges. Actually, we should say only known for the "Married" show. He hasn't done shit since.

8-Year-Old Finds Pot In Happy Meal
Keith and Andrea Irelan got quite a surprise on Monday night when they went through a McDonald's drive-thru in suburban Chicago and ordered three Happy Meals for their children.
One of the packages contained a bag of marijuana. But the Irelans didn't notice that until after they got to a nearby park for a picnic. That's when their 8-year-old daughter noticed a few odd things in her package.
