Iranische Polizei stellte mehr als 2,5 Tonnen Drogen sicher
Das teilte das iranische Fernsehen am Samstag mit. Die Operation sei am Vortag 120 Kilometer von der Stadt Tabas im Nordosten des Landes durchgeführt worden. Bei einer zweistündigen Schießerei sei ein Drogenhändler getötet worden, mehrere konnten festgenommen werden, hieß es.

Hingis fails cocaine test and makes hurried exit
Switzerland's Martina Hingis, five times a grand slam winner and the youngest No1 in modern tennis, revealed yesterday that she had tested positive for cocaine during this year's Wimbledon and was retiring immediately. "I have never taken drugs and I feel 100% innocent," Hingis said. "The reason I have come out with this is because I do not want to have a fight with anti-doping authorities."

Mexico calls cocaine seizure biggest in nation’s history
Mexican authorities said Thursday they had seized 23.6 metric tons (26 tons) of cocaine from a ship in the port city of Manzanillo in one of the biggest drug busts on record.

24 Tonnen Kokain in Mexiko beschlagmahnt

Britney Spears invited a man to snort cocaine off her chest during a wild party at her Hollywood mansion just two days after losing visitation rights to see her sons, it has been reported.
Scott Kohler, 29, claims he and a group of 10 other strangers were invited to join Spears for a night of heavy partying on October 19, when the troubled star drowned her sorrows with vodka and cavorted with the men in her jacuzzi.

Drug submarines found in Colombia
The Colombian navy has seized two homemade submarines believed to have been built by the Farc rebel group to smuggle cocaine out of the country.
The two fibreglass vessels were found in a clandestine shipyard outside the country's largest port, Buenaventura.

The deadly South American arrow poison
I've just found a fantastic article on the history of curare, the powerful Amazonian arrow poison that causes paralysis and death. It's from a 2005 edition of the Journal of the Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh and is available online as a pdf.
