A Texas woman was sentenced to 10 years in jail Thursday for running over the manager of a McDonald’s with her car because she wanted mayonnaise on her cheeseburger. “I gave her everything she asked for — mayonnaise, no mustard, onions — everything I could possibly do for this lady. Mayo, mayo, mayo, and it’s still not good enough,”

Infant's 911 call leads to mom's arrest
When a 1-year-old boy unwittingly called the emergency number this week, the dispatcher who answered could only hear gibberish on the other end. When Deputy Sheriff Jeff Mayer arrived, Noel reportedly let him into the home. There the officer found the baby boy who made the 911 call. Mayer also allegedly found mounds of drugs, all in plain sight.

A Florida company has announced plans to develop a service that would allow consumers to pay for merchandise using microchips implanted under their skin Applied Digital Solutions CEO Scott Silverman said he believes the company's VeriChip -- a subdermal microchip that uses radio frequency signals to broadcast an identification number to a scanner -- could someday replace credit cards. Under Silverman's plan, rather than swiping a bank card to make purchases, micro-chipped customers would scan themselves using special readers.

A Texas has man stuffed the tails of nine live rattlesnakes in his mouth, besting his own record of eight. In a field behind his mobile home in Whiskey Flats, a community about 40 kilometres southwest of Fort Worth, Jackie Bibby banded nine snakes together by their rattles and wedged the tails into his mouth.

Russian dies after winning vodka-drinking contest
A vodka-drinking competition in a southern Russian town ended in tragedy with the winner dead and several runners-up in intensive care.
"The competition lasted 30, perhaps 40 minutes and the winner downed three half-litre bottles. He was taken home by taxi but died within 20 minutes," said Roman Popov, a prosecutor pursuing the case in the town of Volgodonsk.
