Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer has told the company's users that it took anti-competitive actions because it failed to realise how dominant it was. In an open email sent to Microsoft users, Ballmer claims that "even five years ago, we still tended to think of ourselves as the small start-up".

Bosnich career peril after cocaine test
Mark Bosnich's football career appears to be in tatters after it was revealed that he has tested positive for cocaine. The Chelsea reserve goalkeeper took a test last Monday, conducted by UK Sport. The result has since been leaked, catching UK Sport, which has yet to set a date for the B test to be analysed, by surprise.

Janesville police responded to a smoke complaint around 1 a.m. Tuesday and found a man barbecuing his computer modem. The 39-year-old man told police the modem was operating too slowly, and he decided grilling it might make it dial up faster.

Judge goes on leave for smoking joint at concert
District Judge Thomas Gilbert has taken an indefinite voluntary leave from his duties after he was spotted smoking marijuana at a Rolling Stones concert at Ford Field in Detroit. Haley said he interviewed an unidentified Elk Rapids woman last week who reported she witnessed Gilbert twice take a drag from a marijuana cigarette as it was passed along a row of people at the concert.

Snaps spark city drugs raid
PHOTOGRAPHS handed in to a city centre branch of Boots the chemist sparked off a major drug seizure in the Capital. Two addresses were raided after a photo lab assistant spotted what looked like cannabis plants in the background of some of the pictures and alerted the police. As a result of the raids, a total of five people have been arrested and charged with drugs offences and more than £15,500 worth of drugs recovered.

'Osbournes' calling it quits after 2nd season
If she had to do it over again, Sharon Osbourne says she wouldn't have invited MTV's cameras into her home. The cancer-stricken matriarch of television's favorite dysfunctional family told ABC's Barbara Walters that she's calling it quits after an upcoming, 10-episode season is through. "This is definitely the last year," Osbourne said in an interview that will be broadcast on "20/20" Wednesday. "We can't do it anymore."

Officers assaulted with hammer
A 48-year-old man is in custody after he allegedly attacked two police officers with fireworks and a masonry hammer. Police say the suspect was protecting a marijuana grow operation in his house with a street value of almost $7,000.
