It's official: eBay weds PayPal
PayPal is now officially a part of eBay, but the online payments company will be without its chief executive officer who led it into the merger. eBay announced Thursday afternoon that it has completed its acquisition of PayPal. The announcement followed a shareholder vote Thursday morning in which holders of 65 percent of PayPal shares voted in favor of the merger.

Demnach erhalten die Aktionäre für eine PayPal-Aktie 0,39 eBay-Anteile. Durch die im Juli angekündigte Übernahme erwartet das Internet-Auktionshaus eine Erhöhung der Umsätze im vierten Quartal um 60 bis 64 Millionen US-Dollar.

Help! MS issues another critical security fix
Microsoft has released a patch to fix critical flaws within Windows Help Facility which could enable attackers to execute arbitrary code on a victim's PC.
The HTML Help facility in Windows includes an ActiveX control which provides much of its functionality. One of the functions exposed via the control contains an unchecked buffer, Microsoft says, warning that the flaw poses a critical risk for all Windows users.

E-mail virus is bugbear for users
A computer virus that can steal passwords and credit card information is spreading on thousands of PCs worldwide. Called Bugbear, the virus can open computers to hackers, compromise secure transactions and passwords, as well as disabling any anti-virus software and firewalls that might be in place.
