PHP class properties
PHP has a pretty basic class model. You can define classes and create methods as functions within the class. You can also define properties (aka attributes), although in a fairly loose and seemingly uncontrolled way. Users can instantiate the class and then get and set the properties as they wish.

How Linus Torvalds became benevolent dictator of Planet Linux, the biggest collaborative project in history. Linus Torvalds wants me to believe he's too boring for this story. The creator of the Linux operating system portrays himself as a mild-mannered soul leading a humdrum life, just another guy lucky enough to own a McMansion in the hills above San Jose courtesy of the money-mad late '90s. Before agreeing to meet me, Torvalds sent an email imagining that I'd be overwhelmed by the tedium of hanging around with the likes of him.

Sicherheitsloch in Opera
Das Sicherheitsloch ist in Version 7.21 beseitigt, einen Patch zur Aktualisierung älterer Versionen stellt der Hersteller aber nicht zur Verfügung. Opera spricht auch keine explizite Warnung aus, sondern führt den Fehler nur im Changelog auf. Das Problem beruht auf der falschen Behandlung von HREFs beim Aufbau (Rendering) einer Seite.

VeriSign bought Network Solutions for $16 billion in June 2000. Now VeriSign is selling it for $100 million.

Microsoft hat vor drei Tagen in den USA ein Patent zur Personalisierung von Webseiten durch Cookies erhalten. Das US-Patent 6,632,248 beschreibt sehr allgemein die Speicherung von nutzerbezogenen Daten zur Anpassung von Dokumenten in einem Netzwerk. Die eigentlichen Daten, z.B. Sprachwahl, Layout oder Themenwahl, werden dabei auf einem Server und die einheitlichen Nutzer-ID, der Cookie, auf dem Client gespeichert.
