SmoothWall is a family of Internet security products, designed to defend your users and your network from external attack. SmoothWall.org is the home of the SmoothWall Open Source Project, and the SmoothWall Express firewall. SmoothWall Express converts an Intel† or compatible PC into a dedicated firewall and gateway, allowing computers protected Internet access. It is published under the GNU GPL, allowing anybody to download and use the software free of charge.

Experts Worried After Worm Hits Windows-Based ATMs
Automatic teller machines at two banks running Microsoft's popular Windows software were infected by a computer virus in August, the maker of the machines said on Monday. The ATM infections, first reported by SecurityFocus.com, are believed to be the first of a computer virus wiggling directly onto cash machines.

Wicked Sun forces final death of Win98, Office 2000, etc
Microsoft will pull the plugs on MSDN downloads of a range of products, including Windows 98, Office 2000, SQL Server 7 and NT Workstation, next Monday. These contain the polluted Java which, according to the settlement with Sun, Microsoft has to stop supporting. So it's all Sun's fault, really.

Der japanische Chiphersteller NEC hat den kleinsten Transistor der Welt entwickelt und damit den Weg für den Bau eines Supercomputers in PC-Größe geebnet. Der neue Transistor sei nur ein Achtzehntel so groß wie der derzeit Gängigste, berichtete die Zeitung "Asahi Shimbun" unter Berufung auf Unternehmenskreise.

rand()% is a generative net radio station
RAND()%RAND()%: int rand ( void ); Generate random number. Returns a pseudo-random number in the range from 0 to RAND_MAX constant. This is generated by an algorithm that returns a series of non-related numbers each time is called. This algorithm should be initialized to different starting points using function srand to generate more realistic random numbers.

20C3: Not A Number
20th Chaos Communication Congress Berlin, Germany – December 27th/28th/29th, 2003
Here we go again. Less than five months after the Camp, the 20th Chaos Communication Congress is about to take place between Christmas and New Year's Eve. Because our old venue has closed down last September, we are moving to the freshly reconstructed Berliner Congress Center. The building, that some of you might know from XXCCC, is located directly at Alexanderplatz being the neighbour of the Haus des Lehrers.

(CCC) dreht sich wie üblich um "Technologie, Gesellschaft und Utopien" und beinhaltet Vorträge und Workshops zu den verschiedenen Themen rund um Informationstechnologie, Computersicherheit, Internet, Kryptographie sowie den "kritisch-schöpferischen Umgang" mit Technologie und Diskussionen über die Auswirkungen technologischer Entwicklung auf die Gesellschaft.

Anspruch auf Ersatzteilversorgung ?
Am geliebten IT-Equipment geht etwas kaputt. Kein Problem - die Axt im Haus erspart bekanntlich den Zimmermann, und wozu gibt es schließlich Ersatzteile? Manch braver Bastler ist jedoch bass erstaunt, wenn ein Hersteller schon nach wenigen Jahren das einst so gepriesene Gerät nicht mehr kennen will. Ist der Tod des elektronischen Lieblings aus Mangel an Ersatzteilen vorprogrammiert?

Hijacked PCs spread 30% of spam
