Tastenkombination läßt Windows XP abstürzen
Tweakxp' hat eine Tastenkombination bekannt gegeben, mit der man WindowsXP absichtlich abstürzen lassen kann. Mit den Tasten 'STRG' und zweimal auf die Taste 'Scroll Lock' stürzt WindowsXP ab.

Cracker erklären den USA den "Cyberwar"
Brasilianische Zeitungen veröffentlichten, dass eine neue Crackergruppe, deren Mitglieder aus Brasilien, China, Hong Kong und Russland stammen, den USA den virtuellen Krieg erklärt haben.
Die Gruppe nennt sich 'Hackers Against America'. Ihre Website, welche auf russischen Servern gehostet ist, soll eventuell sogar per Suchmaschine erreichbar sein. Auf der Website von 'Hackers Against America' werden auch Codes der Gruppe vorgestellt.

Sasser fan club stops rattling tin
Fundraising abandoned at under $100
Supporters of the self-confessed author of the Sasser worm, Sven Jaschan, have abandoned attempts to raise money on his behalf.
A brief notice on the support site explains: "Actually, we were unable to get a hold of Mr. Jaschan in a timely manner, so we have decided to stop our fundraiser. Losing the paypal account didn't exactly improve the case either, and it seems all other online payment services have even worse fees." Any dosh handed was earmarked for giving Jaschan a good time before his case comes to court rather than towards paying legal fees.

'Silver Surfers' day targets the over-50s
In an effort to get more Brits over 50 online, today has been named "Silver Surfers" day, with 69-year-old Dennis Rogers scooping the "Silver Surfer of the Year, 2004" award.
Organiser Hairnet says it wants to combat digital exclusion by showing how technology is relevent to people's lives. To mark the occassion, Hairnet has fitted the York to London express train with Wi-Fi - one of many events taking place up and down the country.

The Achaea text-based multi-user game has introduced an addictive drug into its virtual world.
Called Gleam, it occasionally gives characters a boost to dexterity but, as with many real world drugs, too much use can lead to addiction and death.

A man named Wayne Radinsky has put up a web site where people post items they haven't been able to find on Google. People can comment if they know where to find search results for the queries.

Vorsicht eBay-Betrug: Angeblicher Rohrbruch im Rechenzentrum
Seit dem gestrigen Freitagabend kursiert eine angebliche E-Mail des eBay-Kundenservice, die Kunden dazu auffordert, Benutzernamen und Passwort binnen 8 Stunden per Reply an den "Kundenservice" zu schicken: Ein Rohrbruch im Rechenzentrum habe bedauerlicherweise die Benutzerdatenbank geschädigt. "Nach vergeblichem Fristablauf sind leider alle Ihre Account-Daten, Konfiguration und Auktionsergebnisse verloren", treibt der Absender, ein Michael van Swaaij vom eBay AG Kundenservice, zur Eile.
