Yahoo Adds Anti-Spyware Feature to Browser Toolbar
Internet media company Yahoo Inc. unveiled a feature on Wednesday for its Web browser toolbar aimed at making it easier for users to remove unwanted "spyware" programs that snoop on Web surfing habits and other activities. Yahoo's move comes amid increasing competition for Web surfers against rivals Google Inc. and Microsoft Corp., which also offer popular browser toolbars, in the market for search and information services, along with related advertising.

Where Have All The Users Gone?
One of my favorite tools for studying trends on the web is Alexa's traffic anlaysis tool. (From that link, select a "site info" for one of the sites listed on that page, and then click on the "see traffic details" link on the subsequent page and you'll see what I'm talking about.)
From time to time I take a look up various sites within Alexa's tool to see how things are doing. I was astonished to see what the trends are in the past six months, for many of the sites I visit.
In a word, the trend is down.

A 24 yr old South Korea man plays computer games all day and makes a six figure sum doing it.
Computer games are now becoming a spectator sport and is televised as spectators admire the stars.

MS: Windows für Supercomputer
Microsoft gründete ein Team, das damit beauftragt ist, eine Windows-Version für Supercomputer zu schreiben. Dieses Betriebssystem soll dann den Namen 'Windows Server HPC Edition' tragen.
Damit reagiert Microsoft auf Linux, das bisher bei Supercomputern und auf Clustern weitestgehend zum Einsatz kam. Derzeit werden neue Manager, Programmierer, Tester und weitere Team-Mitglieder gesucht und angeheuert.

Roboter faltet Papierflieger
Ein amerikanischer Student hat einen Roboter entwickelt, der in der japanischen Origami-Tradition Papierflugzeuge oder -hüte faltet.
Was ein achtjähriges Kind spielend beherrscht, musste Devin Balkcom von der Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh mühevoll in Programmcode abbilden. Eine weitere Herausforderung war die technische Umsetzung.

Cisco Systems präsentiert das schnellste Router-System: 92 Terabit/Sekunde
Der Netzwerkspezialist Cisco hat laut eigenen Angaben das derzeit schnellste Router-System vorgestellt. Das System mit der Bezeichnung 'Carrier Routing System CRS-1' ist in der Lage maximal 92 Terabits pro Sekunde zu übertragen.

Microsoft loses Lindows appeal
Microsoft has been refused permission to appeal its case against Lindows.
The verdict means that the case will go before the district courts in Seattle in the second half of this year. The case should last about two weeks.
Microsoft is taking Lindows to court in several countries claiming the Linux company is infringing its trademarks. Lindows changed its name to Lin---s but Microsoft lawyers claimed this was pronounced "Lindash", which "bears an auditive resemblance to Windows."

Microsoft behind $12 million payment to Opera
Microsoft agreed to pay Norway's Opera Software $12.75 million to head off a threatened lawsuit over code that made some Web pages on MSN look bad in certain versions of Opera's Web browser, CNET News.com has learned.
Opera disclosed the payment last week in a terse press release that omitted other details, including the name of the settling party and the nature of the dispute.

Tarnadresse des BKA nach GMX-Fehlermeldung aufgeflogen
Wie die Betreiber der Internetseite www.linkeseite.de heute durch einen Fehler bei der Newsletterzustellung herausfanden, ist die Emailadresse gipfelsturm11@gmx.net dem BKA zuzuordnen.
Der heutige Newsletter konnte nicht wie gewohnt zugestellt werden. Stattdessen erhielten die Betreiber eine automatisch erstellte GMX-Fehlermeldung, aus der eine Weiterleitung an die Adresse ST11ISAGipfel@bka.bund.de hervorgeht.
