Credit Card-Size Hard Drive Can Hold 5GB

Cheap, thin, flexible StorCard expected to become available this year. Take a look at one of those credit cards in your wallet. That's the exact size and thickness of an upcoming, revolutionary removable storage device called StorCard.

Created by a company with the same name, StorCard can contain from 100MB to more than 5GB of data on a plastic card. At first glance, it looks like a credit card, and even has a magnetic strip like a credit card, for potential use in standard credit card readers.

The hard disk data, however, is accessed on a tiny spinning disk inside the thin card.

Microsoft Introduces CD Copy-Protection Fix

Microsoft Corp. announced on Saturday the introduction of new digital rights software aimed at helping music labels control unauthorized copying of CDs, one of the biggest thorns in the ailing industry's side. Stung by the common practice of consumers copying, or "burning," new versions of a store-bought CD onto recordable CDs, music companies have invested heavily in copy-protection technologies that have mainly backfired or annoyed customers.

OnHand PC

The OnHandPC has the power and memory of a Palm m100 in the size of a wrist watch. Batteries last up to several months which is pretty good compared to other devices like a Palm. The OnHand PC uses 2 lithium batteries which are actually really cheap. Replacement of these batteries can be done without loosing any information. A handy joystick will help you navigate applications. If you are a programmer, you can even develop your own applications in C.

Microsoft Ordered to Ship Java in 120 Days

A federal judge on Wednesday ordered Microsoft Corp. to begin shipping Sun Microsystems Inc.'s Java program within 120 days, after the companies fought over implementing a ruling he made last month. U.S. District Judge J. Frederick Motz summoned lawyers for both sides in the private antitrust suit to a hearing on their failure to agree on the terms of a preliminary injunction.

"I can't sit here hearing after hearing," said Motz. "I want this done in 120 days."

Monster Machine

Kevin 'Dr. Frankenstein' Rose creates a revolutionary hybrid PC built from Mac and PC hardware. I love my Mac and I love my PC, but what I don't love is having two monitors, two keyboards, and two mouses. Switching back and forth has become a royal pain. And since Jobs and Gates probably won't be releasing a Mac/PC combo box any time soon, I decided to take matters into my own hands.
