The "Bubbacomp"

Well, I'm Canadian. That means I sit in my igloo and drink beer. Recently our brewers have recognized the fact that many people pick up a 12 pack for a good time. Well, instead of having all those smaller servings... we were blessed with the BUBBA! 5 litres of pure beer enjoyment. I've seen all these GREAT mini-itx projects, and I wanted to do my own. I thought about using an old cd player, the briefcase idea. Then I wanted something original. The idea struck me one night to put one into a bubba. Thus, the idea was in motion.

Network worm uses weak Windows passwords

Say hello to a network worm which attempts to compromise and spread through Windows machines with weak, default passwords. Called Deloder, the worm also tries to drop a backdoor component.

And yes the worm is spreading through vulnerable machines - albeit modestly, according to Symantec.

The worm spreads by scanning random IP addresses, trying to connect on Port 445. Port 445 (Microsoft SMB over TCP/IP) allows outsiders to access Windows file shares.

Learn About JPEG2000

JPEG2000 offers several benefits that make it an ideal solution for creating digital archives. Collaboration is fundamental to the mission of most libraries. They may wish to transfer batches of image files and metadata to third parties in order to share responsibility for

long-term custody or to build union repositories for access. Many digitization projects have been based on digitization at individual institutions for contribution to a "union" site.

The ISO standard-compliant nature of JPEG2000 and its embedded support for multiple types of metadata helps to ensure that, when used to create digital archives, the content outlives the systems that created it.

Using a quantity of data equivalent to two feature-length DVD-quality movies, the transfer was accomplished at an average speed of more than 923 megabits per second, or more than 3,500 times faster than a typical home broadband connection.
