Mit Auto in Jauchegrube gelandet


Zwei junge Männer aus Zwettl an der Rodl landeten in der Nacht auf heute mit dem Auto in einer Jauchegrube. Wie es zu diesem Unfall in Reinbach kommen konnte, klingt beinahe unglaublich. Ernsthaft verletzt wurde dabei niemand.

Minivans may be recalled


DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler Group faces a U.S. investigation and potential recall of 418,783 of its 2002-model minivans because of reports of audio-system fires.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's inquiry includes Dodge Caravan, Plymouth and Chrysler Voyager and Chrysler Town & Country minivans. Three fires have been reported, including one in which a minivan was destroyed.

Parents' cars seized in boy racer sting


North Shore families are waking up to find their cars have been impounded by police in a crackdown on boy racers. In some cases the angry parents have been unaware their sons have been using the family car for illegal street racing. Inspector Les Paterson said one teenager took the car while his parents were away for the weekend.

Paris bid to ban designer jeeps


Bulky, gas-guzzling sports utility vehicles (SUVs) could be banned from the chic but traffic-clogged streets of Paris within 18 months following a resolution passed by the city council.

Denis Baupin, a leading Green party councilor who tabled the resolution, says the designer jeeps are "not suited to towns" and he could not understand why people drove the fashionable "off-roaders.

Ferrari Opens First China Showroom


Dozens of Ferraris cruised through Shanghai as the Italian sports car maker opened its first Chinese showroom on Saturday, joining a stream of foreign luxury brands targeting newly rich Chinese buyers. The company said it hopes to double sales in China this year of its Ferrari and Maserati brands to 200 cars - each priced at up to $360,000. It plans to open dealerships in 11 mainland cities over the next 18 months.

Rachel Seymour, a college student from Portland, Oregon, has had her 2002 Kia Spectra serviced 12 times for a Check Engine light problem. Each time, she's forced to take it to a Kia dealership, where a technician hooks her car up to a computer, runs a battery of tests and charges her $120 to diagnose and repair the same problem: a loose gas cap.
