Top 100 Bootlegs of 2006
On New Year's Eve, I started running the Daft Monkey chart calculations on all of the bootlegs released between January 1 and December 31 2006. It took about three long nights to complete, but I am happy to present to you the world's only pseudo-scientific mashup charting system and the top 100 "most active" bootlegs of 2006.

Fleetwood Mash II Blues & Country Keys
Mashine-Gun Kelly has decided to get "Virtual Mick Fleetwood" back to his blues roots for the second Fleetwood Mash album. He called on the amazing talent of Doug Colosio, the piano player for Merle Haggard's band to be the focus of Fleetwood Mash II.

DJ Z-Trip // The Unknown Mix Pt 1 and 2
DJ Z-Trip AKA Zach Sciacca is also known as the founding father of the mash-up movement. The unknown mix is a rather tasty journey through hip-hop and beats split into two parts.

A mashup, innit, yer daft bandits!
Partial as I am to the old bastard pop malarkey-type mashup from time to time (Gay Christmas Mr Lawrence being a recent example), I'd like to offer you today a little morsel I was toying with last night, a rickety splice between BMX Bandits' lovely cover of "Something About Us" and the original track by Daft Punk, with me playing a wobbly 80s string machine as I sing along through a vocoder

The Original Mash-up
Buchanan and Goodman were the first mash-up artists, taking bits and pieces of various pop songs and splicing them together into larger pieces -- their most famous being "The Flyer Saucer," recorded in 1956. James & Janis
DJ Moule is the creatror of many fine mash-ups, and in this, our hour of soulful need, I thought I’d highlight one of his James Brown Mash-ups. This time versus Janis Joplin and her quest for diamond rings and all that, with a lovely D&B break sliced in.
