bastard pop mash ups
"On January 18th 2004, Strictly Kev premiered the original 'Raiding The 20th Century' on XFM's 'The Remix' show in London. It was a 40 minute attempt to catalogue the history of cut up music - be it avant garde tape manipulation, turntable megamixes or bastard pop mash ups. It rapidly spread throughout the web and managed to cause a full scale server crash on boomselection.info when they hosted it due to the volume of net traffic. "

U2/Bush mash-up
This is shockingly good. It's currently well-embedded in my current playlist.
It's a mash-up/splice job of Bush's speeches as a cover/remix of U2's "Sunday Bloody Sunday". Grab and go.

Mashup Artists Face the Music
Followup on the Bowie/Audi Contest
When David Bowie issued a recent call for fans to enter a contest in which the best meshing of two Bowie songs into a single track would win its creator a new sports car, it brought a favorite art form of the DJ world into a very mainstream light.
"One thing to note about David Bowie's contest is he's saying, 'You can use different pieces of my songs,' which he has the copyrights to," says Reville. "He's also saying what you make, he also owns the copyright on, so he's not really opening his stuff up freely for people to remix. He's just saying, 'You can do something for this contest and we'll own it,' and that's a really different approach from DJs and people doing mashups."

The Slack Album: news and sundry other
The Slack Album is the latest (for the next ten minutes) in a slew of Jay-Z Black Album remixes and mash-ups. In this case, the Black Album is melded track-for-track with samples taken from Pavement's 1991 lo-fi / indie classic Slanted and Enchanted.

IDC
Big thanks to Eddy Temple Morris on The Remix and Jim Gelatly on Beat 106FM for playing the recent IDC Franz Ferdinand booty "David Byrne Was Born In Dumbarton", which is also going down particularly well with several radio stations across the USA and with Scots Shakespeare Irving Welsh when he attended the recent IDC date in Glasgow.
