Google Analytics A Potential Threat to Anonymous Bloggers
Last month, an anonymous blogger popped up on WordPress and Twitter, aiming a giant flamethrower at Mac-friendly writers like John Gruber, Marco Arment and MG Siegler. As he unleashed wave after wave of spittle-flecked rage at "Apple puppets" and "Cupertino douchebags," I was reminded again of John Gabriel's theory about the effects of online anonymity.
Out of curiosity, I tried to see who the mystery blogger was.
He was using all the ordinary precautions for hiding his identity -- hiding personal info in the domain record, using a different IP address from his other sites, and scrubbing any shared resources from his WordPress install.

Happy Anniversary, Antville!
Things are starting to move with Apache and Helma.

Associated Press: Fair Use Limits You To Four Words; Five Words Costs $12.50
As we wait with bated breath for the Associated Press to come down from the mountain with its own rules for "fair use for bloggers," Patrick Nielsen Hayden gives us a sense of what the AP considers fair use. Apparently, for quite some time, the AP has had up a page that lists out prices for quoting AP text.

Bezahlt mich!
4-stellig) direkt an mich.

Blogger is One of Main Sources of Info for Myanmar Protest
Armed with a laptop, a blogger named Ko Htike has thrust himself into the middle of the violent crackdown against monks and other peaceful demonstrators in his homeland of Myanmar.
From more than 5,500 miles away, he’s one of the few people getting much needed information out to the world.
He runs the blog out of his London apartment, waking up at 3 a.m. every day to review the latest digitally smuggled photos, video and information that’s sent in to him.
