Kuerbis Kern For All!
So last night I cut my thumb open on a tuna fish can. Very smooth of me. Too bad it's Sunday, and all of the Apothekes in Graz are closed. Hence, this may be the last you hear of me, as I will no longer be able to type after my thumb falls off, gangrenous and sore. So, new things I have tried since we last spoke: Kuerbis Kern Eis: Translation-- Pumpkin Seed Ice Cream. Hmmm..

Aufregung um getürmte Kuh in Graz
Eine Stunde lang hat heute Mittag eine entkommene Kuh Polizei und Feuerwehr in Graz in Atem gehalten. Das 350 Kilogramm schwere Tier war aus dem Schlachthof geflüchtet. Nur ein Stier konnte schließlich helfen.

Austrians dominate Empire State run, eldest entrant steps on
The returning champions from Austria have both posted remarkable victories in the Empire State Building Run-Up, while the Big Apple's favourite social climber shined again at age 93 in the 28th annual race.
Rudolf Reitberger won the closest Empire race ever and Andrea Mayr became the first woman to break the 12-minute barrier with a winning time of 11:51 despite wearing a cast for a broken wrist.

Unbekannte treiben Unfug mit Wanderschildern
Unbekannte haben es darauf angelegt, dass Wanderer im Steyrtal die Orientierung verlieren. Die Wegweiser des Alpenvereins wurden abmontiert und durch neue Schilder ersetzt oder in die falsche Richtung zeigend montiert.

Schülerdemonstration in Unterwäsche
Schülervertreter wollen am Dienstag in Linz in einer Aufsehen erregenden Demonstration gegen den Ohlsdorfer Bekleidungserlass protestieren.
Grund ist das am vergangenen Donnerstag in der Hauptschule Ohlsdorf (Bezirk Gmunden) erlassene Verbot allzu freizügiger oder mit anstößigen Sprüchen versehener Kleidung.

Die Industriellenvereinigung (IV) hat dem Finanzminister Karl-Heinz Grasser nahe stehenden Verein zur Förderung der New Economy weit mehr gespendet als bisher bekannt. Einem "News"-Bericht zu Folge hat die Öffnung der Vereinskonten ergeben, dass die Subventionen durch die IV nicht 2,4 Millionen Schilling, sondern 3,9 Millionen Schilling betrugen (also 283.000 Euro statt 174.000 Euro). Die IV bestätigte Mittwoch Abend die Summe.

Minnesota Girl Launches Balloon, Gets Reply from Salzburg, Austria
From Savage to Salzburg, it had traveled more than 4,600 miles.
It took nearly all of 2003 for a Twin Cities child's great balloon experiment to pay off. And it paid off in an amazing way.
Like millions of kids before them three girls released balloons with notes asking the finder to write them.
That was February. A letter arrived in early December — where it came from surprised everyone involved.

Melting snow, carol overkill irk Austrians
It could be the weather - there's nary a snowflake in sight. Maybe it's angst over unprecedented labor unrest or global warming melting the snow on ski slopes in the Alps.
Whatever it is, Austria - known worldwide for its magically festive Christmas traditions - is in a Grinchy state of mind.

Original Email sent to various Hotels in Austria : Dear Sir,
I've been a huge fan of the Crocodile Dundee movies since I was a little kid. I have already booked my flight to Austria. I plan to arrive in a town called Vienna in December. Do you have any vacancies for the first week of December? I plan to see kangaroos, Koalas and the Sydney Opera House. Are the Austrian Aborigines a friendly people? Do you know if the Red Kangaroo is extinct in Austria or not?
