Prototype copter-cam: Here, there, everywhere


It can only remain aloft for three minutes but weighs less than an empty soft drink can -- and it can take and transmit pictures in flight. Yes, it's the stuff of science fiction and it's real, at least in prototype.

Unveiled by Japan's Seiko Epson Corp, the "Micro Flying Robot" is the latest version of a tool the company first demonstrated in November 2003. That version was wire-controlled. This one is capable of autonomous flight over a pre-programmed route.
