Man killed while trying to blow up Iraqi gas pipeline
A saboteur attempting to plant a bomb Saturday under a natural gas pipeline set off the explosion early and killed himself, authorities said.
The explosion that occurred early Saturday in Riayd, about 45 kilometers (30 miles) southwest of Baghdad, did not damage the line, said Col. Sarhat Qader of the Iraqi police in Kirkuk.
