Drugs found at crash


Two people were injured and $2.25 million worth of cocaine and Ecstasy tablets were discovered after a 2001 Lexus being pursued by a Russell County sheriff’s deputy crashed about 9:20 a.m. Sunday near Wilson.

According to a news release from the Russell County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy stopped the Lexus for a minor traffic violation about 9 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate Highway 70 about 10 miles west of the Wilson exit. The officer became suspicious, and the driver gave him permission to search the car.
