Internet Needs Police Force
Futuristic author Bruce Sterling told the Gartner IT Security Summit that the Internet looks like a "God-awful mess" which needs policing. He says that government officials are not taking enough action against spammers, virus-writers and scammers.
He says that since the dot-com bust of the late 1990s, much of the advancements on the Internet have been in illegal activities like "phishing." He adds that warring nations and terrorists can use cyberterrorism thanks to lax enforcement.
