Microsoft Cuts Worker Benefits to Save $80 Million a Year

In an effort to "better align our benefits with those of our competition while still keeping us ahead of the market average" and to save $80 Million a year, Microsoft is reducing prescription drug benefits among other things.

In order to sustain profits in a weaker technology market, Microsoft has also taken cost-cutting measures by reducing travel & entertainment spending and withdrew a stock option plan that once made a number of employees millionaires in recent years.
