Tokyo gov't to consider ban on panty trade

The Tokyo metropolitan assembly will deliberate a ban on trade in girls' underwear by sex shops as well as other proposals on juvenile issues drafted by a government advisory panel, officials said Sunday.

The panel will present the proposals on Monday, and legislators are expected to deliberate major revisions to a Tokyo law on the upbringing of youth in a legislative session to convene in February.

Some of the proposals could be the first of their kind to be included in an ordinance by a local government in Japan.
