Dali painting stolen from a jail. No suspects yet

A small ink-and-pencil sketch of Jesus Christ drawn by artist Salvador Dali was stolen from the lobby of the men's jail at Rikers Island and replaced with a copy.

Jail employees reported the theft when they noticed the sketch they walk past frequently looked strangely bright and too new, jail officials said Sunday. The original was drawn in 1965.

"They're not art experts, but they do see it every day," said Tom Antenen, a correction department spokesman.
