Haider's Rightists Falter; New Coalition May Be Sought
Austria's governing conservatives surged to post-World War II highs in national elections today, but their controversial junior coalition partner, the Joerg Haider-dominated Freedom Party, slumped badly, leaving the composition of the next government uncertain, according to exit polls and early vote counts.
