Conservatives Score Big in Austrian General Elections
Early returns show Austrian Chancellor Wolfgang Schuessel's ruling People's Party has registered sweeping gains in Sunday's parliamentary elections. Mr. Schuessel's conservatives are leading the polls with more than 42 percent of the vote, up 16 points from 1999 elections.
