Austrian Government Teeters over Haider
Austria's government coalition, formed in 2000 amid international protest over Joerg Haider's far-right Freedom Party, teetered on Monday toward early elections after Haider drove his party rival out of the cabinet. The resignation on Sunday of Vice Chancellor Susanne Riess-Passer, who also quit as Freedom Party chairwoman, marked Haider's victory in a bitter internecine struggle and his resurgence as the party's strongman.
