Putin Feared Might Become Cabby When Quit KGB

Russian President Vladimir Putin feared he might be left jobless and reduced to driving a cab when he quit the KGB during the 1991 Hardline communist coup, according to a biography launched Wednesday. "To be honest, I thought then: if the coup plotters triumph and they don't put me in jail, how am I going to support my family, how?!" he says in the book of the turbulent coup attempt in August 1991, which triggered the collapse of the Soviet Union.
