8 detained by Dutch for aiding Al Qaeda


With growing evidence of militant Islamic activities in the Netherlands, Dutch prosecutors charged eight men on Monday with helping to recruit, house and finance fighters for the Al Qaeda network headed by Osama bin Laden.

Dutch Holding 7 Suspected Al Qaeda Recruiters Dutch authorities said today that they were holding seven men suspected of recruiting for Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda terrorist network. "We think they are providing financial and logistical support to al Qaeda and also recruiting young male persons for the jihad [holy war]," said a spokesman for the national prosecutors' office, Wim de Bruin.
