All students at Cornell University were recently sent the following memo.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT USING THE CORNELL NETWORK TO FILE-SHARE AND DOWNLOAD MUSIC, GAMES AND VIDEOS: THE RECREATIONAL DOWNLOADING OF COPYRIGHTED MATERIALS IS A VIOLATION OF FEDERAL LAW AND UNIVERSITY POLICY.
- All web surfing essentially involve sharing of files.
- What about web pages with MIDI embedded?
- What about music, games, and videos that offered for free download?
- How about music I buy?
- Does this mean I can download all of the Chuck Berry, Beatles, Velvet Underground, and Nirvana I want if its for a class on the history of rock'n'roll?
