Robots designed for everyday life not ready for living rooms


Takahiro Takeda, left, postgraduate student of Tohoku University, and Partner Ballroom Dance Robot (PBDR) greet the audience after performing together during the Prototype Robot Exhibition at Aichi World Expo in Nagakute, Japan, on Thursday. PBDR, developed by Tohoku University Professor Kazuhiro Kosuge, is programmed with ballroom dance steps and equipped with special wheels to move in all directions upon predicting the leading dancer's movement by a sensor.
