US-Mediziner: "Cannabis hilft gegen Ebola!"
Seit der Legalisierung von Cannabis in den USA wird das Wunderkraut immer mehr als Arznei entdeckt. Zwei US-Mediziner behaupten jetzt sogar, Marijuana könnte gegen Ebola helfen. Die Theorien der beiden sind jedoch mit Vorsicht zu genießen.

Bundesverwaltungsgericht: Starker Cannabiskonsum vor der Autofahrt verboten
Gelegentliches Kiffen und Autofahren geht nur, wenn die Fahrtüchtigkeit unter keinen Umständen einschränkt ist, so das Bundesverwaltungsgericht. Einen Cannabis-Höchstwert analog der Promillegrenze legten die Richter aber nicht fest.

Fahnder haben einen unbescholtenen Mann zum Drogenhandel animiert. Der 53-Jährige wurde daraufhin verurteilt. So gehe es nicht, urteilte nun der Europäische Gerichtshof für Menschenrechte.

Ermittlungen in Deutschland wegen Urheberrechtsverletzung, Erpressung und Brandstiftung
Deutsche Ermittler haben vorige Woche im Auftrag der Generalstaatsanwaltschaft Dresden in einer groß angelegten Razzia die mutmaßlichen Betreiber der Piratenseite Kinox.to aufzuspüren versucht. Dies berichtet der Spiegel in seiner aktuellen Ausgabe. Die Seite, die auf kopierte Medieninhalte wie aktuelle Kinofilme verlinkt, rangiert unter den Top 50 der von Deutschland aus besuchten Web-Angebote.
Trotz behördlicher Maßnahmen ist die Seite noch immer erreichbar. Auf betreiben des "Verein für Anti-Piraterie" ist Kinox.to allerdings bei einigen österreichischer Provider seit einigen Wochen gesperrt.

Wie Bundesheer und NSA kooperieren
Die Enthüllungen des Whistleblowers Edward Snowden über klandestine Operationen des US-Militärgeheimdienstes NSA wurden weltweit diskutiert. Mehr nicht. In vielen Ländern schwiegen sich Politik und offizielle Stellen über die Kollaboration ihrer jeweiligen Nachrichtendienste mit ihren US-Pendants aus. So auch in Österreich. Zwar äußerte sich Verteidigungsminister Gerald Klug vergangenen Herbst im Nationalrat kurz allgemein über die "fallweise Kooperation", im Unterausschuss für Landesverteidigung wollte er den zur Verschwiegenheit verpflichteten Mitgliedern allerdings keine Informationen über den ominösen "Geheimvertrag" geben, der seit Jahrzehnten Details der Zusammenarbeit regelt. Sogar die Gründe, warum der Vertrag geheim sei, seien geheim, so Klug den Mitgliedern des Ausschusses zufolge.

Benabdallah says he openly grows the crop, while understanding the risk: “We are regularly subject to blackmail by the gendarmes,” he said as he scythed through stalks and wrapped them into a bundle.

Legal ganja in Jamaica: After 100 years of prohibition, they’re legalizing pot
Jamaica’s justice minister said Tuesday that legislation has been drafted to decriminalize marijuana on the Caribbean island where the drug has been pervasive but prohibited for a century.
Mark Golding told reporters that lawmakers should make possession of 2 ounces or less a petty offense before the end of 2014. He also expects decriminalization for religious purposes to be authorized by then, allowing adherents of the homegrown Rastafarian spiritual movement to ritually smoke marijuana, which they consider a “holy herb,” without fear of arrest.

In the latest operation completed on October 6, an Australian frigate, the HMAS Toowoomba, backed up by a New Zealand search plane trailed a dhow -- a type of sailboat traditionally used by Arab merchants -- from the Arabian Sea to the Horn of Africa.

Mensdorff-Pouilly erhält Friedensnobelpreis für Vermittlung kampfuntauglicher Eurofighter
Der Friedensnobelpreis 2014 geht an den Waffenlobbyisten Alfons Mensdorff-Pouilly. Die Jury begründete die Entscheidung damit, dass der burgenländische Graf „durch die Vermittlung kampfuntauglicher Eurofighter einen maßgeblichen Beitrag zur Vermeidung von Kampfhandlungen beigetragen hat.“
Zu Tränen gerührt spricht Mensdorff vom Balkon seines Schlosses im Burgenländischen Luising: „Mein Friedensnobelpreis ist nur der Anfang. Wir alle waren damals unserer Zeit voraus.“ Mensdorff meint die Schwarz-Blaue Regierungsperiode unter Wolfgang Schüssel. „Der Wirtschaftsnobelpreis für das Nulldefizit von Grasser oder der Literaturnobelpreis für Gorbachs avantgardistische Briefwechsel sind nur eine Frage der Zeit.“

With only a month until the scheduled trial of Ross Ulbricht, the alleged creator of the Silk Road drug site, Ulbricht’s defense lawyers have zeroed in on the argument that the U.S. government illegally hacked the billion-dollar black market site to expose the location of its hidden server. The prosecution’s latest rebuttal to that argument takes an unexpected tack: they claim that even if the FBI did hack the Silk Road without a warrant—and prosecutors are careful not to admit they did—that intrusion would be a perfectly law-abiding act of criminal investigation.

Test Version Windows 10 Includes Keylogger
One of the more interesting bits of data the company is collecting is text entered. Some are calling this a keylogger within the Windows 10 Technical Preview, which isn't good news. Taking a closer look at the Privacy Policy for the Windows Insider Program, it looks like Microsoft may be collecting a lot more feedback from you behind the scenes. Microsoft collects information about you, your devices, applications and networks, and your use of those devices, applications and networks. Examples of data we collect include your name, email address, preferences and interests; browsing, search and file history; phone call and SMS data; device configuration and sensor data; and application usage." This isn't the only thing Microsoft is collecting from Insider Program participants. According to the Privacy Policy, the company is collecting things like text inputted into the operating system, the details of any/all files on your system, voice input and program information.
