Policeman tasers self in attempted arrest
A police officer was a bit too quick on the trigger when attempting to make an arrest - he managed to taser himself.
The self-tasering, believed to be a rare event, followed a police chase in Texas.

New Dutch five euro coin
The Dutch Ministry of Finance organized an architecture competition for which a selected group of architectural offices (unstudio, nox, ...) and artists were invited, including myself. The goal of the competition was not to design a building, but the new 5 euro commemorative coin with the theme 'Netherlands and Architecture'. The winner will be rewarded with a nice price, but most of all with the honor: his design will be realized and will be a legal coin within the Netherlands.

Seine Beats waren auf legendären Alben wie "Are You Experienced?", "Electric Ladyland" und "Axis: Bold As Love" zu hören. Und noch am Freitag hatte Mitch Mitchell mit der "Experience Hendrix Tour" in Portland ein Konzert gegeben. Nach ein paar Ruhetagen wollte der Schlagzeuger am Mittwoch abreisen, wie Toursprecher Bob Merlis erklärte - doch jetzt ist das letzte Mitglied von Jimi Hendrix' Band verstorben.

Hendrix drummer Mitch Mitchell dies in Portland hotel room
Mitch Mitchell, the iconic drummer who provided the explosive heartbeat of the Jimi Hendrix Experience on rock classics including "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" and "Purple Haze," was found dead early Wednesday in a Portland hotel room.
Mitchell, 61, who pioneered a fusion style that allowed him and one of history's greatest guitar players to feed off each other, died of natural causes, the Multnomah County medical examiner said. He was found about 3 a.m. in his room at the Benson Hotel in downtown Portland.

Taiwan Makes Fastest 60GHz Wireless System on a Chip, 100 times Wifi Speed for less than $1
The NTU research team claims that the transmission speed of the chip is 100 times as fast as WiFi and 350 times as fast as a 3.5G cell phone. Lee indicated that the chip size has been reduced to 0.5 millimeter, one-tenth of that of existing chips, and the cost is less than one-tenth of the traditional communication module and could be further lowered to only US$1.

Ten and a half tons of hashish recovered in Almería province
14 people have been arrested in connection with the seizure of ten and a half tons of hashish in Almería province. The Guardia Civil have carried out four separate operations over the last weekend on beaches in the province.
The first raid was at 4am on Saturday on the Conda beach in Adra where 81 bales containing 2,640 kilos of the drug were recovered.

But there is currently a lawsuit against Victoria’s Secret, and allegations of the VS brand bras containing formaldehyde are being investigated. The ladies behind the lawsuit state that the Victoria’s Secret bras caused severe itching and nasty rashes. Sounds sexy eh?

EU looks into telecoms blocking Internet calls
European Union regulators are looking into whether mobile phone operators who block customers from making inexpensive wireless calls over the Internet are breaking competition rules.
The European Commission, the EU antitrust authority, has sent questionnaires to phone companies asking what "tools" they use to "control, manage, block, slow down or otherwise restrict or filter" Internet-based voice calls.
