Marijuana Could Prevent Alzheimer's, New Study

A puff a day might keep Alzheimer's away, according to marijuana research by professor Gary Wenk and associate professor Yannic Marchalant of the Ohio State Department of Psychology. Wenk's studies show that a low dosage in the morning of a certain canavanoid, a component in marijuana, reversed memory loss in older rats' brains. In his study, an experimental group of old rats received a dosage, and a control group of rats did not. The old rats that received the drugs performed better on memory tests, and the drug slowed and prevented brain cell death.' My fine university's dollars at work!

European Pot Smokers Map

According to this map, Denmark and France are the European countries with the highest percentage of people who use, or have used, cannabis during their adult lifetime. The French (scoring 30.6%) come second after the Danes (36.5%), but both countries pale in comparison with the world's happiest potsmoking nations, New-Zealand (41.9%) and the USA (42.4%).

SPICE - weitere Analysenresultate

Where the streets have bad names

If you think that living in Penistone is tough, imagine if you live on a street named Butts Wynd (yes, a real one in St. Andrews, Scotland) or Dingleberry Road (in Iowa City, Iowa). This one to the left, Psycho Path (someone has a sense of humor) is in Traverse City, Michigan.

Amazing solar-powered fridge invented by British student in a potting shed helps poverty-stricken Africans

It's the kind of simple yet brilliant invention that would have the tycoons of Dragons' Den salivating with excitement.

Not only is the fridge solar powered, it can also be built from household materials - making it ideal for the Third World.

Bill Gates' Plan To Destroy Music, Note By Note

Remember Mr. Microphone? If you thought music couldn't get worse, think again. Perhaps with the help of R&D tax credits, Microsoft Research has spawned Songsmith, software that automatically creates a tinny, childish background track for your singing. And as bad as the pseudo-infomercial was, the use of the product in the wild is likely to be even scarier, as evidenced by these Songsmith'ed remakes of music by The Beatles, The Police, and The Notorious B.I.G..
