Calif. lawmaker proposes legalizing marijuana
A California legislator today proposed making the state the first to legalize the recreational use of marijuana.
The legislation, by Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, a Democrat from San Francisco, would allow people 21 and older to grow, buy, sell and possess pot. It would be sold, regulated and taxed similar to alcohol. The state would collect $50 an ounce from sellers, and growers, too, would be taxed.
He estimates that the cash-strapped state could reap more than $1 billion a year.

Top Ten Conspiracy Theories
Conspiracy. Just saying the word in conversation can make people politely edge away, looking for someone who won't corner them with wild theories about how Elvis, John F. Kennedy, and Bigfoot are cryogenically frozen in an underground bunker. Yet conspiracies do exist. In the corporate world, major companies we buy products from everyday have been found guilty of conspiring to fix prices and reduce competition. Just about any planned criminal act committed by more than one person could be considered a conspiracy, from simple murder-for-hire to the Watergate break-in.

Gaping Hole Hallowe’en Costume Might Be A Few Months Too Late But It’s Still A Clever Idea
Well to be more precise, this gaping hole Hallowe’en costume by Flickr user evanbooth was actually created back in 2006, making it over 2 years too late now. But his clever use of a portable DVD player LCD under the front of his shirt being fed a live video feed from a camera on his back makes a rather convincing ‘gaping hole’ effect.

Skype calls' immunity to police phone tapping threatened
Suspicious phone conversations on Skype could be targeted for tapping as part of a pan-European crackdown on what law authorities believe is a massive technical loophole in current wiretapping laws, allowing criminals to communicate without fear of being overheard by the police.
The European investigation could also help U.S. law enforcement authorities gain access to Internet calls. The National Security Agency (NSA) is understood to believe that suspected terrorists use Skype to circumvent detection.
