Wikileaks-Sprecher erneut unter Vergewaltigungsverdacht
Gegen den Wikileaks-Sprecher Julian Assange wird erneut wegen des Verdachts der Vergewaltigung ermittelt. Hintergrund ist eine Neubewertung der Vorgänge durch die schwedische Generalstaatsanwaltschaft. Laut Mitteilung sieht die nun zuständige Oberstaatsanwältin Marianne Ny sowohl beim Vergewaltigungsvorwurf als auch bei den Vorwürfen der sexuellen Nötigung "Grund zu der Annahme, dass hier eine Straftat verübt wurde". Ny ist seit 2007 Leiterin des "Prosecution Development Centre" in Göteborg und auf Gewalt- sowie Sexualstraftaten spezialisiert. Bei den Untersuchungen im Fall Assange wird sie von der stellvertretenden Generalstaatsanwältin Erika Lejnefors unterstützt.

Woman asked bank to change fake US$1 million bills
A man has been arrested after a woman was tricked into trying to change two souvenir US$1 million notes at the UAE Central Bank.
The 44-year-old suspect, AB, from Ivory Coast, convinced the woman that the notes were being used in currency markets and told her to exchange them in return for 30 per cent of their value, police sources said.

Koala survives highway ride wedged in car
The vehicle struck the fully grown male koala near Narrawong after leaving the town of Portland, about 360km west of Melbourne, in late March.
The driver, who was travelling at about 80km/h, hit the brakes before collecting the animal with his Ford Falcon on the Princes Highway.
