Lavabit Founder Waged Privacy Fight as F.B.I. Pursued Snowden
One day last May, Ladar Levison returned home to find an F.B.I. agent’s business card on his Dallas doorstep. So began a four-month tangle with law enforcement officials that would end with Mr. Levison’s shutting the business he had spent a decade building and becoming an unlikely hero of privacy advocates in their escalating battle with the government over Internet security.

Submarine Surfaces in the Middle of a Street
Yesterday, a giant submarine has surfaced in the middle of a busy city street in Milan. People in the city were totally freaked out. My first thought was “Damn.. Italy must really be floating in the ocean.” But, then I read something about a marketing campaign. Totally killed my moment. As it turns out this was actually a publicity stunt for an Italian insurance company.

Latest 100 Gigabit Attack Is One of Internet's Largest
Quite possibly, the largest raw packet bandwidth attack in history slams a site for nine hours, but the site under attack stays afloat. Unbeknownst to many people in the world, late last week one of the largest attacks in the history of the Internet was taking place—a massive nine-hour barrage that leveled an unrelenting 100 Gigabits of traffic at its peak.

Northern Soul: Keeping The Faith
In my opinion, this is the best documentary about the Northern Soul scene to date, it's been done with love and affection. Thankfully, there is no mention of the notorious Frank Wilson 45. Most documentaries covering the music that I love make me cringe, this one gives me goosebumps.

Turn On, Boot Up, and Jack In With Timothy Leary’s Long-Lost Videogames
Timothy Leary was nothing if not an early adopter. He's best known for his starring role in the psychedelic revolution of the '60s, but in the '80s and '90s he became captivated by the transformative potential of personal computers and the Internet. Leary's archives, which have just become available to the public, are filled with digital surprises -- including MacPaint artwork by Keith Haring and several self-help programs that might be considered crude precursors to modern brain-training software.
