Biologists have created a living computer from E. coli bacteria that can solve complex mathematical problems
Computers are evolving – literally. While the tech world argues netbooks vs notebooks, synthetic biologists are leaving traditional computers behind altogether. A team of US scientists have engineered bacteria that could solve complex mathematical problems faster than anything made from silicon.

Recherche? "FAZ" fällt auf falschen Schmidt rein
Seit Monaten ist bekannt und im Web leicht recherchierbar, dass unter @BonitoTV weder Harald Schmidt noch sein Team twittert. Und doch fiel jetzt jemand auf eine fiktive Pressekonferenz rein - und das ausgerechnet bei der ehrenwerten "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung".

Kid Koala Takes Psych-Rock 'The Slew' to the Road
Recently Koala & Dylan met the former rhythm section of Grammy Award-winning Australian rock band Wolfmother and began telling them all about the film and its lost music. Chris Ross and Myles Heskett loved the clips and urged that the material had to be heard; subsequently Kid Koala and the guys decided to put a show on the road.

Fair Use Defense Dismissed In SONY V. Tenenbaum
Several readers sent us updates from the Boston courtroom where, mere hours before the start of trial, a federal judge ruled out fair use as a defense. Wired writes that "the outcome is already shaping up to resemble the only other file sharing trial," in which the RIAA got a $1.92M judgement against Jammie Thomas-Rassert. The defendant, Joel Tenenbaum, has already essentially admitted to sharing music files, and the entire defense put together by Harvard Prof. Charles Nesson and his students turned on the question of fair use. The judge wrote that the proposed defense would be "so broad it would swallow the copyright protections that Congress has created." Jury selection is complete and opening arguments will begin tomorrow morning. Here is the Twitter feed organized by Prof. Nesson's law students.
