Media crackdown by Fiji military
Fijians are feeling the force of a new military government with censors now controlling the media.
Under a 30-day state of emergency, newspapers and broadcasters are not allowed to carry stories critical of the army's grip on power in Fiji.

Mexican ambassador: US should take marijuana legalization seriously
Mexican Ambassador Arturo Sarukhan joined CBS’ Bob Schieffer to talk about the violence on Mexico’s border resulting from the drug trade. Sarukhan told Schieffer that the U.S. should take the debate over marijuana legalization seriously. “This is a debate that needs to be taken seriously, that has to be — that we have to engage in on both sides of the border, both in producing, in trafficking, and in consumption countries, and it is a debate that has to be taken on with seriousness,” he said.

Sex auf der Autobahn bei Tempo 123 hat einen Norweger zu Ostern den Führerschein gekostet. Wie die Zeitung "Drammens Tidende" am Montag berichtete, war eine Polizeistreife am Vortag auf den Wagen des Mannes aufmerksam geworden, weil er die zulässige Geschwindigkeit von 100 Stundenkilometern zwischen Asker und Drammen bei Oslo deutlich überschritt.

Phallic Veneration at Kanamara Matsuri
Kanamara Matsuri is a yearly festival in Kawasaki, Japan, where throngs of onlookers gather to cheer on a parade of giant phalluses. Legend has it that in the olden days, a sharp-toothed demon hid inside a Kawasakian girl’s vagina, and a local blacksmith built an iron penis to break its teeth and free the young woman. The penis resides in the local temple most of the time, but one day a year, it is taken out and paraded around the town, its carriers shouting “deka mara (big penis)!”

The Hand of God
If you look at the wrist of the hand, you’ll see a brighter swirl of gas. In the center of that blob is a tiny object, a neutron star called B1509: an incredibly dense sphere of subatomic particles, leftover when a massive star goes supernova. While the outer layers of the star explode outwards, the core of the star collapses, cramming twice the mass of the Sun into a ball only a few kilometers across. This newly born neutron star — called that because the pressure is so great in the collapsed object that electrons and protons are rammed together to form neutrons — is basically the definition of the word incredible: it spins several times per second, has a surface gravity millions of times that of the Earth (if you were on the surface you’d be crushed flatter than a good science fiction program’s chances to be renewed on Fox), and has a magnetic field 30 trillion times that of the Earth’s.
