The “Tree Man”

Dede, aka “Tree Man“, is an Indonesian fisherman who has been slowly changing from a human into a tree… or at least that is what it appears.

After cutting his knee as a teenager, Dede began to grow tree like warts that have baffled local doctors and medical experts for over 20 years.

Supposed Sex Tape of Jimi Hendrix Is to Be Offered for Sale

In a twist on the recent string of sex tapes of Hollywood’s young stars, Vivid Entertainment plans to release what it says is a film from the vaults of classic rock: a sex film supposedly of Jimi Hendrix.

The film shows a naked man who resembles Hendrix, the guitar legend who died in 1970, wearing a bandanna in his Afro, having sex with two brunettes in a dimly lighted bedroom. His full face appears on screen for only a few seconds, with his eyes closed. In other portions there are flashes of his profile. But his hands, bedecked with rings, roam large on the screen at times. The film has no audio.

Josh Sommers' "Escheresques"

Hey everybody! I found an interesting artist on flickr, and have to admit am really amazed by all of his artwork. Most of the photos he shares are edited in photoshop, but the illusion they produce is usually independent from the digital manipulation. It amazed me when I found out he is the author of our previously posted CG Manipulated impossible structures.

Virtual Wall: traffic light of the future?

Hanyoung Lee's clever "virtual wall" traffic light concept provides a visually strong barrier that would hopefully prevent motorists from blocking the box. And if the visual barrier isn't incentive enough, perhaps they could up the wattage of the lasers....

Dialog zur Urheberrechtsdebatte? Immer gerne

AV Firms Split Over Defcon Contest

Security firms have split over the merits of a hacking contest aimed against anti-virus packages planned for August's Defcon conference.

Anti-virus firm Sophos reckons the exercise will serve only to increase the volume of malware in circulation, further taxing the resources of already hard-pressed security firms. However, net security services firm MessageLabs reckons the proposed Race to Zero competition has some merits as an exercise. It compared the wheeze to penetration testing against corporate networks.

Experts warn over SQL injection attacks

Attackers are increasingly exploiting common database vulnerabilities to leave behind code on thousands of sites, redirecting visitors to servers that host malicious downloads, security experts warned last week.

The attacks, which apparently started at the beginning of April, attempt to use any field on a Web site that accepts user input to execute commands on the database that stores the site's information. Since most databases use some variant of the structured query language (SQL), the attack is known as SQL injection.

Linux guru Hans Reiser convicted of first-degree murder

A jury has convicted Hans Reiser, developer of the ReiserFS filesystem for Linux, of first degree murder for killing his estranged wife in 2006 even though her body was never found.

As the verdict was read in Alameda County Superior Court, Reiser furrowed his brows. Dressed in the same dark coat he's worn for months, the 44-year old defendant asked if he could speak with his attorney and he was escorted from the courtroom by a bailiff.
