Graphics Cards - The Next Big Thing for Password Cracking?
Interesting research from Elcomsoft, using the parallel processing capacity of graphics cards to speed up the password cracking process.
Pretty inventive thinking, as graphics cards get more and more powerful, and they are created to do massive parallel tasks for all the latest and greatest games, why not apply it to password cracking!

Erinnerungen an "Reichskristallnacht"

Light-emitting wallpaper
With Jonas Samson's high-tech light-emitting wallpaper it's possible to use a two-dimentional flat surface as light source instead of a 3D object. As long as the wallpaper is turned ‘off’, it is indistinguishable as a source of light. Instead, it is just what it appears to be: wallpaper.

Cosmic Recordings Double as Sci-Fi Soundtrack
Theremins in outer space! Well, almost. NASA recently published several audio recordings collected during the Cassini-Huygens space probe's exploration of the Saturnian system, and it couldn’t sound more like the soundtrack to a 2001: A Space Odyssey sequel. (And yes we know there’s already a sequel, but we mean a good sequel. Sorry, Roy Scheider. We loved you in Jaws, for serious!)

The World's Biggest Botnets
You know about the Storm Trojan, which is spread by the world's largest botnet. But what you may not know is there's now a new peer-to-peer based botnet emerging that could blow Storm away.
"We're investigating a new peer-to-peer botnet that may wind up rivaling Storm in size and sophistication," says Tripp Cox, vice president of engineering for startup Damballa, which tracks botnet command and control infrastructures. "We can't say much more about it, but we can tell it's distinct from Storm."
