British and Dutch police have shut down a "widely-used" source of illegally-downloaded music.
A flat on Teesside and several properties in Amsterdam were raided as part of an Interpol investigation into the members-only website OiNK.
The UK-run site has leaked 60 major pre-release albums this year alone, said the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).

Ja, war wirklich Pech. Bis vor wenigen Tagen im VERBORGENEN via Google Teil des Internets zu Hause, jetzt bald berühmt. Viele PolizistInnen kennen den Verein nicht (ich habe heute 4 gefragt - einen 5ten in der Steiermark zu Hause angerufen), jetzt überlegt man sogar den "Verein Polizeifreunde Wien" aufzulösen. Diesbezüglich sind Gespräche mit dem Innenministerium vereinbart und auch mit der Polizei. Ein Netzwerk, eine Seilschaft bei welchem die röm.kath. Kirche nicht vorhanden ist ? Ja, das gibts. Anwälte sind auch nicht dabei - kaum zu glauben.

If Timothy Leary were alive, he would be 87 years old today. But Timothy Leary is dead, having passed from our lives in 1996.
In remembering Timothy on his birthday, I Googled for a portion of his autobiography, Flashbacks called "My Conception of My Conception" in which he "describes" the experience of being born.

Lebanon's anti-drug squad and the handful of soldiers protecting them had an unpleasant surprise last month when they launched an annual raid on fields of ripe hashish in the northern Bekaa Valley. Rather than standing aside meekly while their hashish was ploughed up as in the past, the farmers this year were determined to protect their lucrative crops. "They shot at us with automatic weapons from nearby woods and houses," Colonel Adel Machmouchi, head of Lebanon's Drug Enforcement Bureau, told TIME. "RPGs [rocket-propelled grenades] were exploding above our heads and we had to leave."

Concern at Tibet monk 'arrests'
Human rights groups have expressed concerns about reports of clashes in Tibet last week between Chinese police and Buddhist monks.
Thousands of police were deployed at monasteries in Lhasa, and scores of monks are said to have been arrested.

EU stretches Google-DoubleClick inquiry
The European Commission has decided to drag out its investigation of Google's proposed DoubleClick purchase.

Italy's retailers have denounced the growth of Mafia extortion rackets which they say now affect big companies as well as smaller ones.
The Mafia has turned into one of Italy's biggest business enterprises with a turnover of more than $120bn (£60bn) a year, a new report says.
