Birth of the Beatles On July 6, 1957, John Lennon and Paul McCartney met for the first time at The Woolton Church Parish Fete where The Quarry Men were appearing. John Lennon was impressed that Paul McCartney could tune a guitar and his knowledge of rock & roll lyrics.

Singles, Not Albums, Define Music Industry Success
Despite the tough times for albums, the music industry is slowly but surely learning the most important lesson of all: give consumers what they want, and they happily open their wallets. Digital music sales are a new business and a new way of thinking about and interacting with content. The industry should be paying closer attention to its meteoric rise and less attention to the dying, arcane album. It should absolutely drop the rhetoric about how piracy is destroying the business, because the sea change in sales patterns shows that something else is is afoot. It means that when users are sitting at a computer and looking for music, more and more each year are turning to legal download services

Online players such as Google are already using such technologies but the technique is now headed to TV land as the broadcast spectrum goes digital, paving the way for electronic program guides and TiVo-style program scheduling and recording.
These developments throw up a "data trail" that can be analysed for advertising, says Verklin, who controls about $US8 billion ($9.3 billion) in media-buying budgets as the chief executive of Carat Americas and chairman of the group's Asia Pacific operation.

They were arrested on an Estepona industrial estate with a ton of cannabis hidden on a lorry load of toys and quad bikes

Google loses “Gmail” trademark case
A court in Germany today banned Google from using the name "Gmail" for its popular webmail service following a trademark suit filed by the founder of G-Mail.
Daniel Giersch (33), started using the name G-Mail in 2000, four years before Google released "Gmail".
"Google infringed the young businessman's trademark that had been previously been registered," said the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in its judgement.

He is the director of the Center for Technology and Society at the FGV School of Law in Rio, Brazil. He is also the head professor of Intellectual Property law at the same school.
