C64 USB keyboard
This page describes how to build a USB-keyboard in the form-factor of an old C64 breadbox. Actually, with little modification it can be used for any kind of keyboard, since the source code is available, and all that needs to be done is to modify the key-to-scancode mapping.
The c64key is based on Objective Development's AVR-USB firmware only USB stack for Atmel AVR microcontrollers, and the simple HIDkeys example they provide. The implementation presented here has a more elaborate keyboard scanning routine, and allows multiple keys to be pressed (and detected) simlutaneously.

Woman cleans keyboard... in dishwasher
You've got a desktop keyboard. And it's stained, grimy and filled with crumbs - not to mention the odd short, curly hair that really can't have got there through natural means. What do you do? You put it in the Whirlpool, that's what.

How to Soundproof an Apartment to Muffle Your Wife's Drumming
Last year, when my wife and I had to beg permission from our co-op board in Jackson Heights, Queens, to swap our one-bedroom apartment for a two-bedroom unit, only one thing stood between us and our dream of getting our one-year-old son into his own room.
Noise.
My wife is a professional percussionist. After three years of hearing her play marimba, djembe and conga in our living room -- and hearing me fumble around on our upright piano -- our neighbors wanted assurances that we would keep things quiet in our new home.

John Lennon: The Lost Lennon Tapes - The Original Radio Shows
Welcome to the Lost Lennon Tapes, as originally broadcast by Westwood One almost 20 years ago. Please note that this podcast is not a rehash of the Lost Lennon Tapes LPs (which excerpted the music only), but consists instead of the original shows (from vinyl and/or tape sources) in their entireties, with narration, interviews, sponsor spots, etc. The sound quality is good, not fantastic, but the content is still as interesting as when it originally aired in the late 80's.

Duckon 2007-Singing Tesla Coil video
This is a solid-state Tesla coil. The primary runs at its resonant frequency in the 41 KHz range, and is modulated from the control unit in order to generate the tones you hear.
What's not immediately obvious in this video is how loud this is. Many people were covering their ears, dogs were barking. In the sections where the crowd is cheering and the coils is starting and stopping, you can hear the the crowd is drowned out by the coil when it's firing.

Dr. MegaVolt
Tesla coils are interesting devices. Many people think that they are nothing more then transformers with high turns ratios, but they aren't really much like conventional transformers. A conventional transformer is an inductive device; capacitive effects are usually minimal. Conventional transformers have very tight coupling between the primary and secondary windings; this is accomplished by using magnetic cores which have high permeability. Tesla coils have air cores. this is for several interesting reasons: standard magnetic materials typically have electrical conductivity, requiring massive insulation to prevent flashovers in a high-voltage transformer. The second reason is that many magnetic materials are very lossy at high frequencies, which is where Tesla coils operate.
