Chiquita to pay $25 million to settle terrorism probe
Banana company Chiquita Brands International said Wednesday it has agreed to a $25 million fine and admit paying a Colombian terrorist group for protection in a volatile farming part of the country. The settlement resolves a lengthy Justice Department investigation into the company’s financial dealings with terrorist organizations in Colombia.

Austrian hunter makes a pig mistake
This little piggy should have gone to market instead of staying home. A housebroken pet pig with an unusual black hide was mistaken for a wild boar and shot by a hunter in woods near its owner's farm in northwestern Austria, a newspaper reported Wednesday.

A husband pleasured his wife so passionately he broke his penis. Robert McClenahan, 38, was left writhing in agony after his mishap.
'We were having sex and he missed and broke his willy,' said his 32-year-old wife, Emma.
'We turned on the light and it was bent.'
The couple, from Colchester, Essex, went to hospital and Mr McClenahan ended up having surgery two days later.
'He laughs about it now, but he didn't at the time,' said his wife.

Suicide squirrels driving utilities nuts
Every year, Neil Engelman carefully collects his data, stands before his company's board of directors and is asked the same question: What caused more outages? The lightning or the squirrels?
Four of the past five years, the answer has been the squirrels, says Engelman, vice president of operations for the Lincoln Electric System in Nebraska. Nebraska is not alone. Many states are grappling with a big increase in the number of power outages caused by squirrel electrocutions.
Squirrels that fry themselves on power lines and transformers cause tens of thousands of blackouts every year.

Adobe eyes fraud-busting tools for Photoshop
Adobe Systems' Advanced Technology lab is working on plug-ins for Photoshop that would detect whether a photo has been tampered with, according to an Adobe representative. So far, the company has two plug-ins that are in a fairly advanced stage of development. Adobe is working with Dartmouth professor Hany Farid, an expert in photo fraud detection.
