Eccentric fashion designers defy parody
Movie satires on the fashion industry generally miss the mark for a simple reason: even the wildest spoof pales in comparison to the real-life antics of eccentric designers.
Models carrying scaffolding, dresses worn backward and revolving crinoline skirts were just some of the ideas showcased in Paris.

German cops and spooks prep own spyware
Analysis Germany's police and secret services are pushing for a legal basis for "online house searches" – carried out without the knowledge of suspects, using spyware similar to a Trojan.

BitTorrent, EMI, And The MPAA All Misunderstanding DRM In The Same Day
Earlier on Monday we had decided to ignore the stories about EMI bailing out on supposed talks to sell unprotected MP3s as well as the story about BitTorrent launching a ridiculous "authorized" movie download site that even the folks at BitTorrent seem to recognize is guaranteed to fail thanks to the inclusion of DRM. But not just any kites. Using glass-encrusted string, kite flyers battle each other high above the city streets. As they say, what goes up must come down -- each year, dozens are killed by the falling string or celebratory gunfire shot into the air. For safety's sake, Pakistan¹s Supreme Court imposed a nationwide ban on all kite flying in 2005. But like most Pakistanis, Musharaf is an avid kite flyer. At his request, the local Punjabi government lifted the ban but only for this weekend. At least 11 people died and 100 were hurt during the two celebrations.

Turn Gmail Into Your Personal Nerve Center
I have started using Gmail as much more than an email host. With its gobs of storage, speed and tremendous search/tagging capabilities, you can transform it into a personal nerve center that's available from any computer or mobile device. When you tap into this power and combine Gmail with some other tools, it is perhaps the most essential site ever developed. Most of the following life hacks have not been documented.
