Government purchases three Picasso oil paintings for eight million Euro
Two of the works, 'Retrato de Paulo con cuello blanco' and 'Retrato de Olga', will go to the Picasso Museum in Málaga, and the third, 'Mujer con gorro y con cuello de piel' to the Catalan National Art Museum, MNAC. Olga is Picasso’s wife a Koklova.

Fine art/toon mashup photoshopping contest
It's clear that many of the great artists of the last century chose to work in the medium of cartoons. But what if they had decided to showcase their creations in classic paintings instead?
In this contest, you are asked to update an old painting, swapping in a cartoon character for the original subject. Use traditional, two-dimensional characters only: No Computer Generated Characters (Incredibles, Shrek, etc.)

Man wins $25,000 lottery two days in row
Raymond Snouffer Jr. won Saturday's Northstar Cash drawing, matching the winning numbers 11-14-23-26-31.
The odds were about 170,000 to 1. On Sunday, he stuck with 11 and switched to 3-7-19-28 -- and won again.

Lewis Goodfellow was born at 24 weeks weighing just 1lb 8oz. One of his lungs had failed and not enough oxygen was able to get into his bloodstream.

1424 is a parody of the 24 TV series, which sees Jack and the Los Angeles setting moved to medieval England in the 1400s. As big fans this is our tribute to the show and thought we would try something a little different. The danger of Daylight Saving Time
If the fuss currently being made about Dubbya's attempt to save energy by making the US go to Daylight Saving Time a fortnight early reminds me of anything, it's the hype we had to endure eight years ago about the Millennium Bug.
At the time, we were told that computers hard-coded to accept only 19xx dates would be crashing here, there and everywhere - quite literally, in the case of those aboard airliners. A slew of companies touted everything from expensive consultancy to PC patches. Much FUD was spread, and a fair bit of money was made.
