Castro signing cigar humidors for big Habanos fest
Cigar aficionados should not expect to see ailing Cuban leader Fidel Castro strut out to greet them at the annual Habanos festival, but they will be able to bid for humidors signed by him.
The maker of Cuba's famous hand-rolled cigars said on Tuesday that five elaborate humidors to be signed by Castro will be auctioned for charity at the closing gala dinner on March 2.

The Great California Weed Rush
How medical marijuana is turning L.A. pot dealers into semilegit businessmen - no beeper required.
THC BREATH STRIPS. That's what Daniel is thinking about -- taking some of those gelatinous Scotch-tape thingies that Listermint makes and putting oil made from marijuana trim in them. There's a guy who's good at producing marijuana concentrates, and he figured out how to bind oil to pullulan, the same carbohydrate gel that Listermint uses for its strips. Now a bunch of people are selling the things, in plastic baggies with a sticker reading for medical use only for five or six dollars a strip. Most people recommend taking only one, even though they don't kick in for a long time, because two will knock your dick in the dirt for six to eight hours.

California Pastor Stole the Whole Church
For nearly a decade, members of Ripon's First Congregational Church bared their souls to Pastor Randall Radic. But clearly it didn't work both ways. There were certain things he wasn't telling them.
That became obvious a year ago, when Radic pleaded guilty to betraying his flock and secretly selling the church and its rectory out from under them. He used the money to buy himself a brand-new black BMW and a laptop -- exploits he later chronicled in a cheeky, almost gleeful blog about his double life as a sinner.

Russian officials opened a criminal investigation Wednesday into the crash of a corporate jet at a Moscow airport that left one of the plane's three crew members in a coma, a top prosecutor said.
The plane, a Canadair Special Edition, crashed Tuesday after one of its two engines caught fire as it took off in a snowstorm from Vnukovo Airport on a flight to Berlin. A Moscow-based company, Fort Aero, said it owned the plane.

It Was 40 Years Ago Today: 'Strawberry Fields Forever' by The Beatles
Today it's been exactly forty years since 'Strawberry Fields Forever', the most adventurous single of The Beatles, written by John Lennon (and also being my own personal favourite in the band's all recorded works), was published in the UK (in America it came out a couple of days later, 17 February 1967).
