Vista to be Downloadable (Legally)
"InfoWorld reports that Windows Vista will be available for legal download as of January 30th — the same day it will be available in retail stores. MS-NBC Online notes that, 'a relatively low number of computer users are likely to get Vista by downloading it from the Internet, but the mere availability indicates that Microsoft is fiddling with distribution methods for the extremely profitable franchise at the core of its business.

PanoramaScanCam
On one of my robots, I wanted to place a camera that could observe everything around it. The camera did not have to have a high frame rate. It was not going to be used for motion capture or real-time autonomous driving. It did need to have a 360 degree field of view. Think in terms of the cameras on the Mars Viking landers of the 1970s.
PanoramaScanCam™ is my implementation of a panoramic camera implemented using the components of a flatbed scanner.

[Ffmpeg-devel] support for hddvd .evo files (mpg ps variant) in ffmpeg
I've attached an initial patch to support demuxing EVOBs - it will recognise and demux VC-1 and DD+ streams, although neither will play at the moment (AC3 streams with substream_id 0xCx should be fine though).
A tool to decrypt and copy content from AACS-protected HD-DVD disks.

Colombia seizes $54m drugs cash
Colombian authorities have seized $54m (£27m) in cash as well as gold ingots from the country's largest drugs cartel in a series of raids.
The cash came from shipments delivered by the Norte del Valle cartel, which Washington says has moved more than 500 tons of cocaine to the US.

Leopard dies from people attack
A leopard has died in the city of Nasik located in the western Indian state of Maharashtra after a severe beating by panicked members of the public.
The incident happened after it strayed into a populated area, wildlife officials say.
