CNN apologizes for Obama gaffe in Bin Laden graphic
During the Jan. 1 broadcast of Wolf Blitzer's nightly news program, a pre-commercial preview of the show's next segment included a story on the hunt for Al Qaeda's leadership. LED cat's eyes may provoke epileptic fits
The agency was alerted to the possible problem by Rebecca Jasiczak who says that while driving along a stretch of the A12 near Witham in Essex, she "narrowly avoided a seizure" prompted by the solar-powered cat's eyes. The offending devices flash at 100 times a second, which created "a strobe-like effect which nearly triggered an epileptic fit", according to Jasiczak.

Irish becomes the 23rd official language of EU
The Irish language has been given official status in Europe, taking its place as the 23rd language of the European Union. The move yesterday received curiously little attention in the Republic of Ireland, given that the language has at times been regarded as a semi-mystical part of the national identity.

A mashup, innit, yer daft bandits!

"I don't know whether we'll ever get to be in a European drinking culture, where you go out and have a single glass of wine," Labor Party chair Hazel Blears said.
